Victorian Youth Teams Trials - Applications Now Open

Trials for each age group will be held at Waverley Baseball Club (Napier Park, High Street Rd, Glen Waverley -Melway 71 J2) on the following dates with session times advised once applications close.

This year’s selection format will run similar to last years format, which is to provide a program focusing on development in a more unified approach. Baseball Victoria believe this format will again better prepare both Victorian teams because both squads will train together longer to ensure continuity of coaching and development. Head coaches for each team have been appointed, with an assistant, a pitching coach and executive officer to be announced shortly.

Under 18

• Blue Team - Mike Deeble
• White Team - Phil Bertrand

Under 16

• Blue Team - Garry Bitmead
• White Team - Jason Rogers

Under 14

• Blue Team - Chris Hodkinson
• White Team - Tony Probert

High Performance Coordinator - Damian Shanahan

COST:

The costs associated for players selected in any State Team will be confirmed once further details are recieved from the ABF, however we expect the cost per player to be approximately $2,800.

AGE GROUP ELIGIBILITY:

• U18 - players born in 1993 and 1994
• U16 - players born in 1995 and 1996
• U14 - players born in 1997 and 1998

UNIFORM & EQUIPMENT FOR TRIALS:

All players are requested not to wear a club or association uniform cap or top. Please wear suitable baseball clothing and a training top or tee-shirt. Players need to bring all personal baseball equipment for their positions including, gloves, helmet, bat, full catcher’s equipment, etc. Drinks and sunscreen are not supplied during the trials.

FINAL SELECTION CRITERIA:

• You must be a registered player with a Baseball Victoria club.
• You must attend selection trials as set out above and all further sessions as advised.
• All participants wishing to be considered for selection must compete in a Baseball Victoria sanctioned competition, at the respective junior age group for U14, U16 and U18 where applicable, in 2010/11.
• It is proposed the two Victorian squads for each age group will be announced at the end of November.
• Further details on training venues and times will be provided at the appropriate time.
