The Australian Baseball Federation (ABF) has announced Lismore as the location of the 2011 Under 16 and Under 18 National Youth Baseball Championships.
Following the success of the combined two-tournament model in Geelong in 2010, both tournaments will once again be staged concurrently.
The dates for the tournaments are Sunday 9th to Thursday 20th January 2011, with all matches to be played at Albert Park Baseball Complex, Keen St, Lismore.
The event will be staged in partnership with the Far North Coast Baseball Association (FNCBA), with the Lismore City Council and the Lismore Visitor Information Centre providing highly valued event support. The region has put forward a very comprehensive proposal which we are sure will ensure a very successful tournament.
“Following extensive consultation and feedback received from stakeholders following the 2010 tournament, a number of modifications have been made to the operating model of the tournament,” said Brett Pickett, ABF Baseball Operations Manager.
“While all teams will once again receive a comprehensive tournament registration and participation package, to be forwarded to Baseball Victoria shortly, we have endeavoured to provide more flexibility and independence to each participating team for the duration of the tournament,” said Brett Pickett.
Registration and Participation Packages will include the following items:
- Airfares from Melbourne to the Gold Coast, return;
- Ground Transport for the duration of the stay including basic excess reduction (excluding petrol, tolls, optional excess reduction and damage costs);
- Accommodation - all teams will be accommodated in motel-style accommodation (largely single or twin-share);
- Meals
- Laundry Facilities for team usage;
- Welcome Function (which this year will incorporate a full meal and an Industry Panel);
- Official Team Photos
The ABF are yet to release the dates and venue for the 2011 Under 14 National Youth Championships.
