The Baseball Victoria Under 12 Kangaroos Team has touched down in Tokyo in Japan. Since their arrival on Saturday 17th July, the team has already gone to work by playing three matches against local Washimiya and Kazo teams.
The heat and humidity have hit the team hard during their friendly games in their preparation for the IBA-Nankyo Boys World Championships later this week.
In the three games played so, the team dropped the first two 7-10 and 8-10, however won a thriller against Kazo Majors 6-5.
“All of the kids are contributing very well on and field the field. The heat and language barriers are proving no barrier for the kids,” said Head Coach Wayne Pollock.
“Our performances and nerves are improving with every game which is all we can ask for at this stage of our tour,” said Wayne Pollock.
The temperatures are in the mid 30s with approximately 70% humidity.
The team will continue to play friendly games within the Washimiya area before travelling down to Edogawa for the tournament on Saturday 24th July. At the World Championships, the Kangaroos have been drawn in the same pool as Chinese Taipei, Japan Girls and Thailand. The tournament concludes on Monday 26th July.
